![]() associate professor Teaching science for the masses. When James Andrews’ book Science for the Masses was published in 2003, the Slavic Review said it should be "required reading for anyone interested in Russian/Soviet studies and the Bolshevik Revolution." With his newest forthcoming book, Visions of Spaceflight, he has continued to analyze the relationship between science and public culture. He believes this book describes "the cultural underpinnings of Soviet space exploration in the 20th century." He has already given two public talks on the topic at the Smithsonian Institution, and was invited to give lectures internationally in Australia, the Netherlands, and next year Japan to name a few. The recipient of numerous teaching awards on campus as well, he continues to enjoy and engage students in the classroom, as much as public and academic audiences in the US and abroad. |
