Kent Lucken

kent lucken

political science
1986

Behind the Iron Curtain to the corn fields of Iowa.

He's been a neutral observer for elections in two former Soviet states, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan. Now Kent Lucken is observing elections from a different view. Kent is spending the months leading up to the Iowa Caucuses stumping for Presidential candidate Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. He is providing advice on shaping the campaign's message to voters. Kent is making the leap into politics after spending the past several years with Citibank. Prior to that he was a diplomat in several Slavic countries. "It was out of a sense of idealism that I wanted to represent my country and U.S. interests overseas. I wanted to see the Soviet Union firsthand, and when I got there I was shocked: The place was falling apart and the government was ruthless. It made me more committed to wanting to get involved in the political process."
