Bringing politics back to campus.

A pair of Iowa State graduates association with each other has extended well past graduation. Charles Manatt and Thomas Phelps are partners in a law firm that has offices in several cities in California and Mexico, in addition to an office in Washington, D.C. The firm began by offering legal services to the banking community but has grown to offer international legal and consulting services to a variety of industries.

But the law isn't the only thing Charles Manatt has his hands in. A long-time Democratic Party supporter, he chaired the Democratic National Committee from 1981-85 and co-chaired the 1992 Clinton/Gore presidential campaign. And for several years, he served as U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

Charles Manatt and Thomas Phelps each fall sponsor a lecture series in the Department of Political Science that has brought to campus speakers from the U.S. government as well as foreign dignitaries.
