Combat pilot. Test pilot. Author.

George Marrett flew 188 combat missions in Vietnam and tested more than 40 types of military aircraft in 25 years as a test pilot for the Air Force and Hughes Aircraft Company. "I always thought I was addicted to aviation. The higher, the faster - it made no difference to me." But when George retired he shifted gears to do something else. He started collecting food and handing it out to needy individuals. He became a long distance runner, qualifying for the Boston Marathon. For years he had no involvement whatsoever in aviation.

But aviation had a way of getting back into George's life. He is flying again. "Once I started flying it was like a needle going into my arm." But these days George's real passion is writing about aviation. He has done that successfully, publishing books on Howard Hughes, combat air rescues in Vietnam and his first book on life as a military test pilot. "I had 32 test pilot friends that were killed in aviation accidents. I thought something should be written about them."
