English "I didn't know if I had any talent as a writer." Gina Ochsner had doubts if she could ever succeed as an author. Those doubts continued after earned her master's degree in creative writing at Iowa State and started getting her short stories published. Then she started winning awards - one of which was the Flannery O'Conner Award for Short Fiction. The award included the publication of her first book, a series of 11 short stories. Gina has since published a second book and received a $20,000 National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship that will lead to the publication of two new novels. "I love writing. It's really exciting to see worlds collide and see a story start to emerge." |
