English "There is a vibrancy of being in touch with a piece of history." Trudy Peterson has done
just that. From her early work at the Hoover Presidential Library to rising
through the ranks of the National Archivist, eventually becoming the acting
Archivist of the United States for more than two years during the Clinton Administration.
Now a consultant, Trudy has worked with records in South Africa during the apartheid
period to working with the United Nations on records of refugee situations throughout
the world. "History helps stitch us together - the good, bad and ugly.
"We save the glorious records - the Emancipation Proclamation, the Declaration
of Independence – but we also have to save those records that don't
make us feel as proud because those records are our history too." |
