Women's Studies Professional Development Small Grants

Applications Due March 7

As we have in previous years, we will be offering small grants to WS faculty and students for professional travel and research expenses. Proposals should include information about how you'll spend the money, the benefit to you and to Women's Studies, and any other sources of funding you
have.

There are, however, some new policies about the grants, passed last semester by the WS Program committee.

  • Applicants should have done active service to the program in the last 2 years (this includes serving on a committee, teaching a core or cross-listed class, or declaring a major / minor; any other service to the program will also be considered).
  • Applicants must be presenting research if their request is for funds to attend a conference.
  • The research WS is funding must be feminist and the applicant must agree to present it to a WS brown bag.
  • Dollar limit: $400 max for faculty and $600 max for students.
  • Grants will be available to core faculty for money above their contracted WS PD funds.

Please fill out the attached application form, write a short description of your need for the funds (see the application form for details), attach any supplementary information to the application, and send your proposals to Julie Snyder-Yuly (jlsnyder@iastate.edu) by 5 pm, Friday, March 7.  Please note that all funds must be spent by the end of the fiscal year - June 30, 2008.
