Outcomes Assessment for the Biology Major

Biology graduates:

-are aware of the opportunities in the broad area of biological sciences.
Metric: exit interviews with graduating seniors and surveys administered in Biology 110 and 111 prepared by advising staff.

-were able to graduate in four years, assuming adequate initial preparation and minimal major curriculum transfers.
Metric: four and five year graduation rates; prepared by Institutional Research or Registrar.

-understand and demonstrate a core understanding of the broad area of biological sciences,
Metric: earned minimum GPA in major; prepared by Institutional Research or Registrar.

-are the result of an advising process that often counsels students to consider other interests consistent with their abilities.
Metric: number of students switching to other majors and graduating within five years; prepared from Biology
Data Base and by Institutional Research at five year intervals.


-understand the importance of physical sciences and mathematical disciplines in biology,
