Gary Hicks

  • Cargill Corporate I/T Services (CITS) – I/T Director

    Gary graduated from Iowa State University in 1987 with a BS degree in Computer Science and a minor in Business.

    Gary started with Cargill in 1988 as an I/T Technical Architect in Cargill's Corporate I/T Division. He spent 5 years in Corp I/T doing technical design and development for many of Cargill's corporate HR applications, including Payroll and Benefits. Gary transferred to Cargill's Grain/Oilseeds Crush and Ag Producer Services business unit in 1995 as manager of their Emerging Technology Lab. He led the team that did the I/T architecture development and implementation for the LYNX Project, a project automating the full grain origination, contracting, and settlement process at Cargill’s 300+ grain/oilseeds facilities.

    In early 2000, Gary transferred to Cargill Corporate I/T as a Project Manager, changing focus to concentrate on Cargill's Ventures opportunities in the areas of technical strategy, product development, and project management. He was involved in the product design of multiple product offerings for three of Cargill's ventures.

    In 2002, Gary became the Development Manager for the Cargill I/T Services Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) team. In that role he focuses on new business development, customer relationship management, and project management.

    Gary has been involved in I/T recruiting at Iowa State for the past 8 years, and has been the lead I/T recruiter there for the past 6 years. He chairs Cargill's Iowa State Steering Committee, responsible for managing Cargill's Higher Education Relationship with Iowa State. Gary also sits on the Iowa State University Liberal Arts & Sciences Dean's Advisory Council and Business College
