Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences

    Richard Iverson
    Geology BS 1977
    Vancouver, Washington

In his role as a research hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Richard Iverson developed and continues to oversee the USGS Debris-flow Flume in Oregon. This large-scale outdoor flume is the only experimental facility of its kind in the world and has enabled Iverson and his colleagues to obtain additional information and data about debris flows and landslides.

Iverson is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and the Geological Society of America. He has received the Kirk Bryan Award (2001) and the E.B. Burwell Award (1991) from the Geological Society of America and in 2005 was that organization’s R.H. Jahns Distinguished Lecturer.
