Panel Discussion

Iowa State University's Colleges of Business and Liberal Arts and Sciences hosted a panel discussion on the future of business and technology featuring some of the nation's leading experts on the subject including several Iowa State University graduates.

Panel participants covered a wide array of topics. They discussed the skills today's graduates need to compete in the business and technology arena, the expertise required to start and lead large technology companies, and the impact of outsourcing IT jobs overseas.

The panelists included:

  • Douglas D. Troxel ('67, mathematics), founder and chairman of the software company SERENA.

  • David Kingland ('80 industrial administration), chairman of the board, CEO and president of Kingland Systems Corporation.

  • Jeff Townsend ('85, computer science), chief of staff of Cerner Corporation.

  • Carl Chang, chair of Iowa State's Department of Computer Science.

  • Lloyd B. Taylor, retired corporate vice president and CIO of Cargill, Inc., will moderate the panel discussion.

  • Gregory Geoffroy, president, Iowa State University, will deliver opening remarks.
