Mock Interview Program

Mock interviews provide a "dress rehearsal" for you to gain confidence in and polish your interviewing skills. When you sign up for a mock interview, you will be expected to prepare and present yourself in the same manner as you would for an actual interview. The Mock Interview is designed to help you:

  • Practice interviewing
  • Evaluate your interviewing style
  • Discuss interviewing strategies
  • Reduce your anxiety before a professional interview

Mock Interview Sign-up Instructions

If you have NOT logged into ISU CMS before:
Activate your account:

1. Click here to Login to ISU CMS

2. Click on Forgot my Password.

3. Enter your user name (complete ISU email address). You will receive your password shortly via ISU email.

4. After logging in, click on Profile in the main header to update your personal and academic information.

5. Upload a resume (in documents) appropriate for the mock interview focus.

6. Follow the directions below.

If you HAVE logged into ISU CMS:

1. Click here to log in to your ISU CMS account.

2. Click Calendar in the main header.

3. Click the Counseling Appointment tab.

4. Click on the New Appointment button.
a. Select Type: Mock Interview-LAS Student Only
b. Select Counselor: Kent Spillers

5. Click Save and Continue button.

6. Click on the Date and then Time that fits your schedule. You must allow 4 working days i.e. to schedule a mock interview on Wednesday you must submit your request no later than the Thursday before.

7. Click on Submit Request.

You will receive an email confirming your appointment start time (all appointments are for one hour) and the location (102 Catt Hall).

Mock interviews can be customized for specific scenarios. Please read your confirmation email for specific instructions.

For all mock interviews:

  • Bring your resume.
  • Be prepared to "stay in character" for the duration of your interview.
  • The entire process will take between 45 minutes and 1 hour so plan accordingly.
  • The questions will be at the interviewer's discretion unless you furnish us with specifics.
  • We don’t save your mock interview. After our review the disc will be re-used.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Your mockinterview is a commitment no different than a "real" interview. The mock interview program follows the same policies as our on-campus recruiting. If you have to cancel your mock interview you MUST contact our office as listed above with 48 hours notice. If you do not keep your mock interview appointment or fail to provide 48 hours notice, the following sanctions will apply:  Your ISU CMS account will be blocked until you send your interviewer an apology/explanation letter and provide a copy to our office.
