Kent attended a private liberal arts college in upstate New York for two trimesters before taking a five year hiatus from academia. He returned to ISU as a first-year student at the ripe old age of 24 and worked in the large scale, institutional level food-service management industry for three years before returning to graduate school.
"Through all of my life experiences, I feel that I can relate to the challenges that most any student at Iowa State might face. It is my hope that I can utilize these real-world experiences to help prepare students to enter a career that they are passionate about."
Outside of classes and no matter the season, Kent enjoys any activity that takes place outdoors such as kayaking, Frisbee golf, fishing, golf, and winter camping.
