Internships and Employment

Since 2001, over 520 students have had internships with more than 220 local, state, and federal agencies in law enforcement, courts, corrections, counseling and treatment, and other social service providers. Iowa State students have interned throughout the state of Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Minnesota, Washington, DC, Colorado, Virginia, Maryland, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Kansas. Interns have also been placed in criminal justice and social service agencies in Germany, Italy, and Spain.

Often internships provide employment opportunity for students. Recent graduates have secured employment with United States Probation, US Postal Inspectors, United States Marshals, FBI, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, city and municipality police departments across the country, and dozens of additional judicial, correctional, and social service organizations.

Graduates have secured faculty positions or been accepted to doctoral programs at Cambridge University, Northeastern, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Howard University, Georgia State University, Valparaiso University, University of Maryland, University of Cincinnati, University of Iowa, Appalachian State University and many others.
