History
As a history major at Iowa State University you will develop the skills necessary to write and think clearly, understand the nature of social organization, think chronologically and understand past events in their relation to the present, carry out research with a variety of sources, and analyze and interpret past and present events. The history major doesn’t require you to specialize in any particular time period or geographical area of history. However you may elect to group your courses in one of several areas of emphasis including Europe; Asia, Africa, Latin America; United States; technology and science; agriculture; and topical courses. If a career in high school teaching is what you are seeking, you can earn a secondary education endorsement at Iowa State. The licensure program allows you the option to pursue studies in social science disciplines such as political science, anthropology, sociology, economics and psychology.
