Goran spent three months at the renowned German Center Research Center as a visiting research scientist. He earned a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service, joining other high-achieving students from the United States and Canada.

With a major in biochemistry from Iowa State University, you will have an understanding of the chemical principles of biological systems including molecular biology. You will develop laboratory expertise in modern biochemical techniques, including the ability to analyze data and prepare scientific reports.

You will also have the opportunity to work as an undergraduate research assistant in a faculty member's laboratory, developing skills that will remain with you in your post-undergraduate career.

Biochemistry majors also receive training in mathematics and physics to solve problems of broad scope in biological, biomedical and environmental sciences and to provide leadership in diverse scientific and technological arenas.

Opportunities after graduation are numerous for biochemistry majors including careers in the biotechnology sector, in universities, veterinary medicine and medical schools, as well as government laboratories.
