Biology
Opportunities abound once you decide to become a biology major at Iowa State University. You can join the freshman learning community, BEST, one of the oldest and most active learning communities on campus. Student organizations, such as the Biological Sciences Club, the Marine Biology Club and many pre-professional clubs, provide an opportunity to get to know other students interested in the same areas of the biological sciences. And if you want to venture a little off the beaten path, biology majors are provided both international and North American field trip courses to such locales as Mexico, Costa Rica, Africa, Australia, Antarctica and the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. These opportunities and your biology courses will provide an in-depth introduction to the breadth of the discipline through a six course core while maintaining the flexibility to explore any aspect of biology in a diverse array of upper-level classes.
