Anthropology
An anthropology major will provide you the opportunities to explore the world through hands-on real-life experiences such as an internship at The Great Ape Trust of Iowa or working on an archeological dig in Nebraska, Ireland or Greece. By actively participating in departmental courses, study abroad programs, and internships, our graduates explore the important historical and contemporary issues of anthropology. You will leave Iowa State with a well-rounded professional education in one of four fields of anthropology - cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, archaeology and biological anthropology. You will learn what it means to be human through the study of culture and social relations, human biology and evolution, languages, music, art, architecture, and through the study of past human communities.

Professor Pruetz was also prominently featured on the PBS program "Nova" and has been named an "Emerging Explorer" by the National Geographic Society. And in the April 2008 issue of National Geographic she was again featured with a large, multi-page spread.
