But the campaign trail isn't the only thing you will learn as a political science major. You will maximize your opportunities by completing a broad liberal arts program. You will understand the interrelationships of the subfields of political science, develop skills in analysis and critical thinking, and be able to apply research methods relevant to the discipline. InternshipsThere's no better way to see if you are interested in your chosen field than participating in an internship. The Department of Political Science believes that students who participant in an internship enrich their college educational experience. Our students regularly intern in Washington, D.C., at the Iowa Legislature and state agencies, city and county governments and non-profit organizations.
