This time of year, right before Thanksgiving Break, is a busy one. Classes are busy with projects, the weather is starting to get cold, and we just lost all of our sunlight to daylight savings time. It’s difficult getting used to it being dark before 5pm!
I am an Advertising student in the Greenlee School and I have been quite busy in my ADVRT 434 class this semster. This is a campaign class, in which we work with an actual client to develop/create new ideas that they could possibly use for their product or service. My class is working on a non-profit organization, the Issa Trust Foundation. This program is based out of Des Moines, but works to help the people of Jamaica.
All semester we participate in research and work to develop a advertising campaign strategy for them, and then during finals week we present our ideas. Each group in the class is considered their own agency and it’s a competition to see which agency would be picked by the client. This is similar to what would happen in the real advertising world!
Our main goals are to raise awareness about this foundation and to help get people to donate. My group has some great ideas, but I don’t want to give them away. I’ll just show you a glimpse of what I am designing. It’s a promo ad for the hotels in Jamaica.
Finals week will be here before we know it, I am excited to see who the client will chose, and hopefully they will pick some of our ideas!
