2008 Ambassadors Profile
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Why I chose Iowa State: I chose Iowa State because I had always been a Cyclone fan. My dad has worked on campus ever since I could remember and I just loved coming onto campus. Doing a campus visit made my decision more concrete.
What I like best about ISU: The opportunities for students to get involved in almost every aspect of campus life. Whether it is Government of the Student Body or leadership in a residence hall, there are always ways to get involved. Professors are very approachable and allow for students to get involved in their work.
My ISU activities: I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Gary Wells (psychology) in his lab that focuses on the reliability of eyewitness identifications. It has been a great opportunity to meet new people, get to know a professor better and jump-start a future career in the area.
My goals after graduating from ISU: I plan to enter either law school or graduate school in psychology. I am intrigued by the legal system. I hope to find ways that jury trials may become more reliable and allow for minimal mistakes, including the conviction of an innocent person.
Something I didn't expect I'd do at ISU: I suppose I didn't expect that I would learn so much about myself, such as things I never thought I'd be able to do without a parent: do the dishes, do laundry and go to bed at a reasonable hour.
