at Iowa State University from internships in big cities to study abroad opportunities in far-flung places to unique study experiences right in this country.

Internships used to be uncommon. Now every academic department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences encourages its students to gain valuable experience outside the classroom. Our students have interned at MTV, at the White House and at the Metropolitan Opera. In the journalism program alone, our students have participated not only in special internship programs at Meredith Corporation but have also earned national internships as well.

Our off-campus opportunities extend well off campus as we offer you an impressive selection of opportunities to study, work and have internships in international settings. Spending a semester, a summer or even just a few days in an international setting is something that produces benefits that are hard to measure. These experiences are both educationally and personally enriching and fulfilling and will pay dividends long after the time away from home has drawn to a close.

Many of our departments also offer special off-campus experiences with week-long stays at our geology field station, biological trips to the Boundary Waters and archeological digs in western Nebraska.
