LAS International On-Line is the bi-monthly on-line publication of the International Programs of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. LAS International is part of LAS' on-going efforts to coordinate all aspects of international activities within the College including international studies, study abroad, exchange agreements, research and outreach.


Events
REEES - The Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies Program will present a lecture by Maria Vorozhbit on Monday, Nov. 13, at 4 p.m. in the Sloss House. The visiting assistant professor of Russia will speak on "Trans-Siberian Railroad: Cultural and Culinary Adventure."

News
PHOTO COMPETITION - The Department of World Languages and Cultures sponsored a Study Abroad Photo Contest "People, Places and Cultural Practices." The winning photo was "Reflexions of Spain" by Alex Baumgarten and was taken in Vigo, Spain. You can view the winning photos either at the department's Language Studies Resource Center in Pearson Hall or on-line at www.language.iastate.edu/main/center/contest.htm.

ESSAY CONTESTS - Both the Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies Program and the Western European Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are sponsoring an Essay Prize. Both contests are open to undergraduate students and come with cash prizes.

Essays for both competitions are due by April 1, 2007.

Study Abroad
LONDON - The Department of English has announced its 2007 study abroad excursion to London May 12 through June 2. Constance Post, associate professor of English, will lead the three-week literature, drama and film tour of London (and Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon).
