Awards

Each year the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of its faculty and staff through as exemplified in awards received from both the university and the college. LAS faculty are recognized for their exemplary contributions in the areas of research, teaching, advising, and professional and institutional service. Staff members are honored for demonstrating excellence in their position responsibilities, which may range from general departmental support to academic advising to information technology services. Award recipients are recognized each year at various convocations and award ceremonies.

Nominations for the 2010 University and LAS awards for both faculty and staff are due in the LAS Dean's Office by Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Departmental awards committee chairs are responsible for submission of nominations from their units. Award nominations must be submitted electronically via email. Please consult the nomination submission guidelines for specific details on the submission process. To ensure that nominations are given full consideration by the LAS Awards Committee, please read carefully through the nomination submission guidelines and the award criteria and eligibility. Each nomination for a college award must include an LAS nomination cover sheet. These nomination cover sheets, which provide detailed information on the specific materials required in preparing the nomination, are available through the links on this web site. If you would like the nominee also to be considered for a parallel university award, you must complete a university award coversheet (faculty [Word and PDF], P&S [Word and PDF]. Additional information on University Awards is available on the Provost's website.

The LAS Awards Committee will review all nominations and select those to forward to the provost for the university award competition. Nominees must be Iowa State University employees and LAS faculty or staff members at the time of the Fall 2010 Convocation in order to be award recipients.
