LAS Master Teacher Award

Purpose: To recognize faculty who have a sustained record of exemplary teaching performance that enhances student learning. Each year the college will target a particular instructional theme relevant to its broad teaching mission.

Eligibility: Any tenured faculty member or senior lecturer in Liberal Arts and Sciences. A department may submit more than one nomination but must rank the candidates.

Theme for 2010-2011: Teaching Excellence in the Discipline

The college seeks nominations that recognize faculty who have demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching upper-level undergraduate courses (300- and/or 400-level) on a regular basis in their discipline or major. We encourage nominations from across the range of disciplines in the college: humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and mathematical sciences.

Criteria: Documented evidence of outstanding teaching of undergraduate students.
