Research AwardsLiberal Arts & SciencesNomination Form (PDF) LAS Award for Outstanding Career Achievement in ResearchPurpose: Recognizes faculty members who have a national or international reputation for contributions in research and/or artistic creativity, and who have influenced the research activities of students. Eligibility: Tenured faculty who have had a professional career since their Ph.D. (or other appropriate terminal degree) of more than 16 years and who have been employed by ISU for a minimum of 5 years. Distinguished professors are not eligible for this award. Criteria: Documented evidence of outstanding research/creative accomplishments and impact of their work on their discipline as evaluated by peers and experts in their field. Outstanding national and international recognition in the academic community. Evidence of a substantial positive impact of their mentorship and/or teaching on undergraduate students, graduate students and/or postdoctoral associates. The candidates will be judged by the body of work since terminal degree. Number of awards: 1-3 LAS Award for Mid-Career Achievement in ResearchPurpose: Recognizes faculty members who have a national or international reputation for outstanding contributions in research and/or artistic creativity at the mid-career stage. Eligibility: Tenured or tenure-track faculty with a professional career since Ph.D. (or other appropriate terminal degree) of 9 to 16 years and at least three years of employment at ISU. Distinguished professors are not eligible for this award. Criteria: Documented evidence of exemplary research/creative accomplishments and impact of work on discipline as evaluated by peers and experts in their field. Significant national and international recognition in the academic community. Evidence of a positive impact of their mentorship and/or teaching on undergraduate students, graduate students and/or postdoctoral associates. The candidate will be judged by the body of work since terminal degree. Number of awards: 1-3 LAS Award for Early Achievement in ResearchPurpose: Recognizes faculty who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in research and/or artistic creativity unusually early in his or her professional career. Eligibility: Tenured or tenure-track faculty with a professional career since their Ph.D. (or other appropriate terminal degree) of less than 9 years and have had a minimum of two academic years of appointment as an ISU faculty member. Criteria: Documented evidence of exemplary research accomplishments and/or artistic creativity as documented by peers and experts in their field. National and international recognition in the academic community. Evidence of a positive impact of their research on discipline. The candidate will be judged by the body of work since terminal degree. Number of awards: 1-3 |
