Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) is the largest college at Iowa State with more than 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students among 22 departments, one professional school, seven other academic programs and 14 cross-disciplinary programs. Our faculty members teach approximately 60 percent of all student credit hours at Iowa State, leading to 50 baccalaureate degrees, 29 Ph.D. programs, 36 master's programs and 14 graduate interdisciplinary degrees.

The large number of students and faculty in the college provide many opportunities for student scholarships and faculty support from alumni and friends. The breadth of the college's disciplines also generate a wide array of educational, research and outreach initiatives that are greatly assisted with private support.LAS strives to prepare students by teaching skills in reasoning, analysis and communication; with appreciation for history and culture, understanding of the challenges ahead and sensitivity toward people and their environments. Your support not only provides opportunities for many talented and needy students, it enriches the academic experiences for all Iowa State University students who come here for a first-class education.
