  • Grant Wood lithographs donated

  • The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University and University Museums were the recipients of a timely donation from I.H. Pace ('30 economics) of Willoughby, Ohio.

Pace donated three original lithographs from Iowa artist Grant Wood. The gifts came just prior to a new exhibit featuring the work of Depression era artists including Wood. The exhibition, "The American Scene: Depression Era Prints from the Permanent Collection," was on display in the Brunnier Art Museum from January to August 2004.

The exhibition featured over 60 prints by urban and rural regionalists including the three lithographs donated by Pace.

"University Museums is currently working to build its collection of Grant Wood prints and Mr. Pace's gift of these three prints certainly represents a treasure that will augment the collection," said Lynette Pohlman, director of University Museums.

The three Wood lithographs were all produced in 1937 and include "Honorary Degree," "Seed Time and Harvest" and "Tree Planting Group."
