New Horizons
- New Horizons is a report from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Budget Advisory Group (BAG). The report addresses some of the budgetary
challenges the college has faced over the past few years
and offers suggestions to meet these challenges. A year-long study was
put together by BAG, which consisted of academic department chairs,
faculty representatives from the college's Representative
Assembly and members of the dean's staff.
New Horizons Timeline
Stage 1 - Information gathering
Feb 2 - LAS Representative Assembly
Open Forum, 1414 Molecular Biology, 4:10 p.m.
Feb. 15 - Faculty responses due
Feb. 24 - Department chairs responses due
Stage 2 - Data processing (tentative schedule)
April 1 - Budget Advisory Group distillation of feedback on
proposed reconfigurations goes to faculty.
April 1 - Curricular information solicited from selected departments
May 15 - Faculty and department written feedback on BAG reconfiguration
report due
Summer - BAG reviews May feedback and identifies departments for further
discussions
Summer - Discussions begin with Faculty Senate and LAS Curriculum Committee
Fall 2005 - Detailed faculty planning takes place; discussions with
departments, Faculty Senate and LAS Curriculum Committee ongoing
End of 2005 Fall Semester - Final recommendations submitted for faculty
debate
Stage 3 - Moving to New Horizons
Spring 2006 - Final decisions made; implementation committees
formed
