Brazil Program Grading System
Students accepted into the program will be required to:
- Attend the Study Abroad Center's general predeparture orientation.
- Register and attend the country specific predeparture orientation course.
- Take part and complete all course requirements such as readings, group discussions, homework assignments, and presentations.
- Choose one of the courses tracks, conduct research, write, and present a cross-cultural comparative paper. Possible tracks are:
- Eco-tourism/environmental preservation
- African influence on the Brazilian culture
- Differences in the educational system
- Race and ethnicity/social issues
- Arts/Entertainment/Literatur
- Maintain a reflective journal to help them process their experiences and track their learning.
- Meet daily with program directors to debrief day's activities.
- Conduct interviews and collect information for their paper.
- Complete an "exit survey" (for program directors) and a program evaluation (required by the Study Abroad Center).
Students will be graded on their performance during the orientation course (before and after the trip) and during the program in Brazil. The standard grading system at Iowa State will be used.
