LAS Staff International Service Award
Recipients

Purpose:  To recognize Iowa State University staff for outstanding service in support of the international activities of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. 
Eligibility: Any university staff member, either P&S or merit, with a minimum three years of service at Iowa State.  Former recipients of the award are not eligible.
Criteria: Significant and sustained contributions to the international mission of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, which may include support of international students and scholars;  engagement in international dimensions of student learning;  and infusion of international perspectives into extracurricular and service activities.

Iowa State University Study Abroad Center
As a staff member in Iowa State's Study Abroad Center, Guthrie has worked tirelessly to assist LAS students achieve their study abroad goals. She coordinates international service learning programs on campus including the summer LAS program to Peru. She also serves as the coordinator of the Iowa State and Monterrey TEC (Mexico) exchange program.

Roger Bertelsen

LAS Academic Adviser
As an academic adviser in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Roger Bertelsen works with LAS international studies secondary majors and linguistics majors, primarily U.S. students who have international interests. He also works with international exchange students. Prior to working in LAS, Bertelsen worked for 18 years in the Intensive English and Orientation Program.

Dana Schumacher

Political Science
Dana Schumacher is the program coordinator of the international studies major and minor in the College, serving as the academic advisor to students with a primary major in political science and a secondary major in international studies. Among her many responsibilities, Schumacher evaluates and approves application of transfer and study abroad courses to the international studies major and minor. She also coordinates an electronic newsletter sent to international studies students. Schumacher is also the academic adviser in the Department of Political Science.
