Study Abroad Scholarships
Art restoration class, Lorenzo de Medici School, Florence, Italy
In order to encourage participation in learning experiences abroad, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers its students study abroad scholarships to help defray the costs of international study. Students majoring in a discipline in the college may apply for a Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) Study Abroad Scholarship (award amount varies), a Trudy Huskamp and Gary Peterson Study Abroad Scholarship ($1,000), a Gary L. & Margaret W. Krull Scholarship, or a Gittla Murphy Scholarship. One application qualifies a student for all scholarship programs. Only one scholarship may be awarded per applicant.
Eligibility
Any student majoring in an academic program within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is eligible to apply for this scholarship in support of a study abroad experience. Applicants must have: sophomore standing (minimum) with a declared major in the college and a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Preference will be given to students whose primary major is in LAS. Strong consideration will be given to students participating in ISU-sponsored programs. Students who will spend a semester or more abroad are especially encouraged to apply.
Application process
Scholarship application deadlines are November 1 for spring and spring break programs; and March 1 for summer, fall and academic-year programs. Applications must be submitted electronically through the ISUAbroad website. Only complete applications will be considered.
Questions regarding this scholarship program should be directed to Nancy Guthrie, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at (515) 294-8036 or nguthrie@iastate.edu.
