| Marie Whetstone Rietz is honored for the many attributes she possessed as a loving mother, a kind neighbor, a good manager and a person who was fun to be around. Marie was especially active in music events in her community. She loved to play the piano and helped a great deal with the music programs in her church. Following graduation from Iowa State College, Marie taught home economics in Rowan and Manilla for 5 years. She married E.A. Rietz of Rowan where they established their home. They were strong leaders in their local Methodist Church. Their only child, Paul, graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Paul is now the principle owner of Rietz Engineering Consultants in Ames. He and his wife, Ardeth, have three children. Marie was especially proud of the accomplishments of her son, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. Marc is a graduate of Iowa State University. Lisa is a graduate of the University of Iowa. David is in his last semester at Iowa State University. 7/1/96 |
