JaNelle Hall was born at Sioux City, Iowa
on December 29, 1946, the second of four children (2 girls and 2 boys). Her parents both had lived in nearby towns; however,
they met during college years at the University of Iowa. After their marriage in 1940, they farmed near Sioux City.

JaNelle attended the Hinton Community School throughout grade and high school. She graduated with honors in 1965. She was active in the National Honor Society, girl's basketball, band and choir groups. In addition, she was a long-time member of
the local 4-H Club and received honors in sewing, cooking, and home furnishing through those activities. During her senior year, she won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow Award.

She entered Iowa State University in the fall of 1965 and chose a major in mathematics. In her freshman year, she became a member of Alpha Chi Omega fraternity and held various offices within the collegiate chapter. She received her B.S. degree in mathematics in 1969. During 1969-70, JaNelle was employed at the Administrative Data Processing
Department at Iowa State.

In June, 1970, she married Lloyd L. Anderson, a member of the ISU faculty and a Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture (1992). He was widowed in 1966 and was the father of two young sons, Marc and James. They made their home in Ames where Lloyd continued his work at Iowa State and JaNelle became a full-time homemaker.

In 1975, JaNelle began working as a programmer/analyst in the data processing section of the City of Ames at Mary
Greeley Medical Center. She became the Director of Information Systems (computers, telephones, pagers) at Mary Greeley in 1992 and continues in that position.

She has been active in Alpha Chi Omega Alumnae activities continuously since 1969, having served as President of the Ames Alumnae Club, Chapter Advisor to Delta Nu Chapter at Iowa State University, and President of the House Corporation Board for the collegiate chapter in addition to numerous other duties.

JaNelle served as President of Faculty Women's Club in 1978-79 and was a member of the French Division of the Club. She is a member of Chapter KC of PEO having been initiated in 1980. She is a member of Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames and was a Sunday School teacher and served on committees of the Church.

Marc Anderson is married to the former Julie Kay Tschetter. They reside in the Minneapolis area and are the parents of one daughter, Janessa. James Anderson lives in Sturgis, South Dakota. 7/1/96
