Marjorie Swisher Haggard

Born: January 27, 1910, Marshall, Missouri

Died: December 25, 1994, Corvallis, Oregon

She taught English in public high schools in Missouri for over forty years. She had two children: Frank, a faculty member now retired from Iowa State University; and Carol, a physical therapist in Corvallis, Oregon. She was a woman of independent thought and spirit, politically engaged throughout her adult life. She visited Ames often from 1967 to 1994 and watched her two grandsons grow up here.
