Being the eleventh child born, the common names were used so she was named for her position, Elvie. Elvie was a very good student in high school but she had no opportunity to attend college. She did, however, guarantee that her two sons and two daughters were given equal and ample opportunities for a college education. She remained supportive even when her children and grandchildren made decisions that she felt were inappropriate. Elvie understood and practiced unconditional love and hence
was deeply loved by her four children, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 12/23/94 |
