After graduating from ISU and spending one year with Dow Corning in Michigan, Ms. Johnson began her career with Monsanto Enviro-Chem in St. Louis, where she has risen to her current position of supervisor of marketing services for an engineered mist eliminator that limits the emission of hazardous liquid mists from industrial plants. She manages a group of customer service representatives who interface with marketing specialists, product developers, and manufacturing to see that customers' needs are met through proper product selection and design. Since 1985, Ms. Johnson has participated annually in a career advisory panel for junior and senior high girls from the St. Louis area who are interested in a science or engineering career. She chaired her company's United Way Campaign in 1989 and has served as a church choir member, cantor and soloist. In addition to being a member and past officer of the ISU Alumni Club in St. Louis, she belongs to the Order of the Knoll and the Marston Club. She is a charter member and former director of Monsanto Company's Women's Network, which has advised and coached professional women in industry and particularly at Monsanto. In recognition for her service as a role model for women in Monsanto and the community, Ms. Johnson received the St. Louis YWCA Leadership award in 1987. She has also received three monetary awards from Monsanto Enviro-Chem for process design changes that materially reduced the cost of new sulfuric acid manufacturing plants and in 1990 received the company's Achievement Award for outstanding product marketing. She is listed in Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America and was the 1987 Missouri State Champion in the sewing competition, Make-It-Yourself With Wool. She makes most of her career wardrobe and enjoys golf, reading, and singing. She recently adopted two children, ages 6 and 11, and is learning to enjoy their activities as well, particularly baseball. 12/26/94
