Born on January 24, 1960, in Iowa Falls, IA.
Graduated in 1978 from Eldora High School in Eldora, IA,
Attended Iowa State University from Fall 1978 through Spring 1982.
Graduated in May of 1982 (B.S.) in Speech. While at Iowa State,
Lynnae was active in musical productions including the 1979 Stars
Over Veishea production of South Pacific and the 1980
Wintergarden production of The Music Man. Lynnae also
performed with the Iowa State Singers for two years and acted
in and directed Varieties. She served as president of the Delta
Zeta sorority during her senior year. Following graduation from
ISU, Lynnae enrolled in graduate school at Purdue University.
Lynnae married David Ward Lathrop (Biology '82) in May of 1983.
After receiving her Master of Arts degree from Purdue in Speech
Communication in December of 1983, Lynnae taught speech communication
classes at Iowa State from Fall '84 through Spring '85 while she
completed her teaching certificate.
In the fall of 1986, Lynnae became a member of the faculty at
Denison (IA) High School, where she taught courses in English,
speech, and drama. She was instrumental in establishing two new
theatre courses at Denison. In 2000, the Lathrops moved to Waukee
when Lynnae accepted a position teaching English at Waukee High
School. She moved to the 8th grade speech and drama position at
Waukee’s Prairieview school in the fall of 2006.
Lynnae and David are parents to two talented sons: Jenner Allen
Lathrop who was born on May 19, 1994, and Karch Christian Lathrop,
born August 30, 1996.
