Joyce Elaine Knudson Nichol

Joyce Elaine Knudson Nichol was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota June 16, 1941. She grew up in Parkersburg, Iowa where she graduated from high school. Joyce received her degree in child development at ISU in 1963. Her first career teaching experience was at the Aldrich Nursery School in Rochester, Minnesota. In the past years she has taught and directed at pre-schools in Winnetka, Illinois, St. Paul, Minnesota, Sioux City and Ames, Iowa.

On June 27, 1964 she married Harold "Bud" Nichol (BS 1960, MS 1964). She has been
active in child care organizations and children’s issues and has served on the state 4-H Foundation Board. Joyce is the mother of Steven Nichol (BS 1991 and Lindsay Nichol Gretz (BA 1992, MA 1994). 2/5/95
