Darlene Eckert Sayers

Marengo, Iowa

Brick Section D - Row 28

1929-1987
Darlene Sayers is a heroine because she was our mother, plain and simple. She was a woman who raised seven children; Vicki, Jim, Carla, Adda, Susan, Nancee and Justin.

She loved mornings, afternoon walks, gardening, family gatherings and vacations, sitting outside during warm summer evenings, playing with her grandchildren - all in all she was a lover of life. She was a patient substitute teacher, care-giver, and honored 4-H leader in Iowa County.

She was a hard working woman who could throw bales of hay or straw, help birth calves or lambs, cut wood, drive a tractor and combine, easily outworking someone 10 to 20 years her junior.

She is a mother who is thought about daily by her children either in their prayers or reminiscing about family times. She affectionately loved and sorely missed by her children, grandchildren, and husband.
