We are proud to have the opportunity to honor our mother, Joan Underwood, with a brick in the Plaza of Heroines She and our father, Ray Underwood, live in Atlantic, Iowa. Mom was born in Cedar Rapids and lived there until 1948 when she enrolled at Iowa State University. Dad came to I.S.U. from Ringsted. After their graduations from Iowa State and their wedding in 1952, they made several moves until they settled in Atlantic in 1961. Their loyalty and respect for Iowa State was evident through the years we were growing up. We each graduated from Iowa State and married an Iowa State graduate. There are now eight grandchildren who are also becoming I.S.U. fans! The following list tells the members of our family and their respective
