Virginia Carmack

Brick Section E - Row 13

The person being honored is our mother, Virginia Carmack. She is a long-time resident of Nevada, Iowa and is a retired employee of the ISU Department of Residence.

We're honoring our mother for her continual dedication to her dream of higher education for her children and for her numerous sacrifices, words of encouragement and trust in our abilities throughout the years. Even though she found herself raising four of five children alone, she shepherded two through B.A. and then M.S. degrees at ISU and a
third through a B.S. at the University of Iowa. She instilled in us a love of learning and confidence in ourselves.

She's an avid sports enthusiast and has held season basketball tickets for the ISU men's team for a number of years. Always acting as our eyes and ears to catch what's happening on campus, we gladly support her ‘Cyclone habit'.

We could think of no better way to honor her than to permanently place her name among those of other women, other heroines of today, gathered in honor of a heroine of
yesterday. Thank you for the opportunity to share our pride in her accomplishments.
