Corrine Smith Englehart was born April 14, 1923 at Clark, South Dakota, 2nd child of Joseph and Marie Smith. In 1936 her parents moved to Dow City, Iowa where she attended grade and high school. Corrine enrolled at Iowa State in 1941 and graduated in 1945. While at Iowa State she had the following honors and activities: Mortar Board President Kappa Delta President Phi Epsilon Omicron Omicron Nu - National Home Economics Honorary Society 1st woman as Business Manager of Student Daily newspaper Memorial Union Student Board Phi Kappa Phi - National Scholastic Honorary Society at Iowa State Quill Award for Journalism Member of Panhellanic Council Sigma Alpha Iota - National Professional Music Fraternity of Women Sweetheart of Sigma Chi Life Member of Memorial Union 1/3/95
