Ruby B. Taylor

Brick Section F - Row 3

b. Arthur, Wisconsin Sept. 5, 1884
d. Ames, Iowa Sept. 15, 1965

My mother, Ruby, and my father, Harvey N. Taylor, were the parents of four daughters. Elizabeth, Margaret, Barbara, and Helen. Elizabeth died in her first month. The education and future of their daughters were their primary concerns.

Mother worked for Adams Mortuary to finance her education at Normal Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She had a long career teaching in Story County schools. She was very active in the Methodist Church Women's Society of Christian Service and received many honors for her service.

My father worked for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in Ames from the age of 12 through 62. He graduated from Ames High School and attended Iowa State College. Harvey was a Naturalist, Engineer and Historian. He was the third generation of Taylors in Ames.

The family lived at 1006 Lincoln Way in what was originally a farm house. There was a flowing spring in the cellar. 7/1/96
