Esther Marie Jungmann Halverson grew up during the Great Depression and graduated in 1942 as an R.N. from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Des Moines, Iowa. She and her husband, Murl LeVern Halverson wanted to make certain their children (Stephen, Barbara, Craig, and Mary) had college education’s. Their oldest child, Stephen graduated from Iowa State University in Industrial Arts November 1969. Barbara graduated with Honors, from Iowa State University in Elementary Education May 1970. She subsequently received her Master's Degree from the University of Iowa July 1974. Craig graduated with Honors, from the University of Iowa May 1973 in Finance and Business. He then entered Law School and graduated from the University of Iowa May 1976 receiving a Juris Doctor degree as well as an MBA degree. Their youngest, Mary graduated with Honors, from Iowa State University in May 1978 and The University Of Iowa in May 1981 with a Doctor of Dental Science Degree. Esther Halverson’s goal of higher education for all her children was realized primarily due to her selfless dedication. With all their love, your daughters Barb and Mary, thank you. 7/1/96
