Linda Lou Sandy-Jewell

Prairie City, Iowa, USA

Brick Section G - Row 21

I am honoring my sister LINDA LOU SANDY-JEWELL (IOWA STATE 1958-1960) in recognition of her lifelong commitments to world peace, to all people in need, to her family and to Christian teachings.

She has been active in pursuing peace in the world for most of her adult life. She participated in the Peace March across the U.S. and the Peace March across Russia. She has developed a number of close friends from Russia while leading groups on visits to Russia on four occasions and hosting several visits from Russian groups
here in the U.S.

She has spent many years as an educator at the middle school level. She has hosted exchange students and led the support of several refugee families as they settled in the U.S.

Linda has raised three boys to share the same values she has demonstrated, while being a supporting wife, an avid outdoors person & environmentalist, and a leader in her church.

She has approached life with consistent
enthusiasm and a sincere and proactive caring about her fellow man.

She is richly deserving of being included in the Iowa State Plaza of Heroines.

Her loving brother,
