| Gladys Fern McCollom Baker Grand Junction, Jefferson, and Ames, Iowa Brick Section A - Row 12 |
Gladys Fern McCollom Baker was born in Iowa on August 23, 1925 to Ethel McCormick and Bruce McCollom. She married Harlan K Baker on July 3, 1946. Their children were:
Shanaz Renae Baker Vollmer (born 7-8-48) Deborah Kay Baker Davis (born 8-18-50) Karen Rae Baker Ross (born 5-14-53) Charles Eugene Baker (born 1-10-57) Robert James Baker (born 12-1-60)
Gladys' priority was her family. She devoted every day to providing for her husband, children, parents and siblings. She spent her days cooking, sewing, canning and creating crafts.
Gladys tolerated the presence of numerous animals in the house including cats, dogs, lizards, snakes, horned toads, silk worms, birds, ducks, and mice because of her willingness to be supportive of her family's interests and to teach responsibility to her children. Gladys did not measure wealth by dollars, but by family. She felt we were a very wealthy family because of the love within our family.
Gladys died on January 29, 1968 of leukemia. 7/5/95 |
