PERCIE VAN ALSTINE
1905 - 1994

Percie Van Alstine was very proud of her Iowa heritage. Born and raised in Gilmore City, she matriculated to the University of Iowa where she became a Mortar Board member and outstanding graduate in 1928. Though she worked in many parts of the US and traveled to many parts of the world, she always returned happily to her small Iowa town. She owned and managed farm land there, became the mayor of the town and their representative in the state legislature. She felt each citizen needed to contribute
time and money to public welfare. She had a natural artistic ability, spent many happy hours at her easel and left beautiful paintings to family and friends. 11/18/95
