Ms. Margaret Fowler Chivers

Ames, Iowa

Brick Section E - Row 19

Margaret Fowler Chivers, 1900-1981, is being remembered by her daughters -

Margaret grew up during the final decades of women's struggle for the right to vote, and her coming of age coincided with the opportunity to exercise that right. Her belief that informed voting was almost a sacred duty was passed to her daughters. We grew up in Ames listening to parents who seldom agreed on a candidate, but who always voted, and we knew that if the League of Women Voters was meeting in Ames, Mother would be there. We are grateful for this heritage. 7/1/96
