Bessie Kacena

Paver Area 8

11/18/1918-
Bessie Mae Moyers Kacena
Bessie, my mother, left home after high school to go to the "big city" of Des Moines. After she married William Joseph Kacena Jr., she had 3 children. She taught us to do our best at whatever we attempted. She herself was an excellent seamstress. She felt that an education was very important because "an education can never be taken away from you." Since her kids have grown, she has taken to writing poetry and short articles about her life. She quietly provided for us and was always there behind

the scenes encouraging and supporting us. 6/94
